Become a Carmen Affiliate

Because of the level of access granted to Carmen Affiliates, participation in the program requires both permission from a dean or department chair and additional training.  Individuals who need to become Carmen Affiliates should contact the Carmen support team at carmen@osu.edu for more information.

Roles

Depending on need, Carmen Affiliates can be granted access to all courses in a department or college, to selected administrative tools within Carmen, and to additional support tools.  The level of access to be granted is determined after consultation with the Carman Affiliates manager and other members of the Carmen support team.

Training

In most cases, potential Carmen Affilates must demonstrate that they have completed the following workshops:

  • Carmen QuickStart
  • Carmen Gradebook
  • Carmen Quizzes
  • FERPA
  • Institutional Data Policy

Information about Carmen Workshops can be found on the Events and Workshops page. The Carmen Affiliates manager will provide information about other workshops.

In addition to the standard workshops, most potential Affiliates will need to schedule an individual session with a Carmen team member for training in the specific administrative tools that will be made available.

Permissions

After consulting with the Carmen Affiliates manager and other Carmen team members to determine the level of access needed, potential Carmen Affiliates will need to have their dean or department chair formally request that affiliate status be granted.  The dean or chair will be asked to personally log in to site where they can authorize this special access.
