Reporting
Instructors can use Carmen to collect information about student performance and online course activity. Instructors can directly access much information about quiz scores, survey results, connection time. The Carmen team offers reporting services beyond those tools when more information is needed. This includes collating and aggregate user data and, in special cases, discovering data about an individual's use of the system.
To find out if we can meet your request, please e-mail carmen@osu.edu with details. If necessary, we will arrange a consultation to work through what is required to build a report.
Common Requests and Timelines
Depending on the information requested and the time range of interest, data retrieval can vary from a few days to several months. Please give as much lead time as possible for complex reports, a significant amount of data, or a large set of users.
Also, note that the weeks surrounding the start and end of each quarter are an extremely busy time for the Carmen team, and requests during these times will be deferred.
Below are common report requests and estimates of how long we'll need to complete them:
-
In a grade dispute or to explore allegations of academic dishonesty, server administrators can review web server logs to determine if a student account was active in a given time frame. If we receive detailed, accurate information about the date and time of an event, this data can usually be gathered in 2 to 3 business days. The more accurate the time window, the faster the response.
-
For those using Quizzes or the Survey tool, we can export per-user responses in a format amenable to statistical analysis. The usual turn-around time is 3 weeks from the date of the request.
If you are running a survey with more than 200 respondents, you may wish to contact us to download your data for you.
