Space by Request

Ohio State faculty and staff can request Carmen space for University purposes.  Uses include hosting discussions or sharing files for committees, research teams, or department administration.

Carmen course shells are created for all courses in the Registrar's Master Schedule at least 6 weeks before the start of the quarter. To request an academic course shell before its scheduled creation, email carmen@osu.edu with details about the quarter to be offered, department, and course number.

How to Request Carmen Space

To request a Carmen space, email carmen@osu.edu with answers to the following questions:

• What is the purpose of this Carmen Space?

• What is the desired name of this Carmen space? (Please be exact -- changing names is not trivial.)

• Would you like this Carmen space to be associated to a quarter? If so, which one?

• What is the OSU Internet Username (i.e. doe.999) of the person who will be the primary contact for this Carmen Space?

• What department/unit is offering this Carmen space?

• Are you requesting the JOIN feature be enabled for this space to allow users to self-register? (See JOIN Instructions for uses and restrictions.)
  • If so, please list any additional users who will need to monitor and manage enrollments.

Restrictions on Use and Support

• Technical support for academic courses takes priority over Carmen space requests and support, especially during peak use times at the start and end of each quarter.

• All users must have active OSU internet usernames (lastname.#) in order to access Carmen. However, faculty may request sponsored guest accounts for participants not affiliated with OSU. See Guest Access to Carmen for information.

• In the interest of system and support resources, we reserve the right to determine if requests for Carmen space and use of the JOIN feature can be fulfilled.
