eReserves and Librarian Assistance
Instructors can take advantage of library services through partnerships between the Carmen team and OSU Libraries:
eReserves via Carmen
The Office of eReserves uses Carmen to distribute electronic reserves (eReserves). Carmen provides a way to share library electronic reserves – which often have copyright restrictions – with only those students who should see them.
- eReserves can scan materials and upload them into your Carmen course – even if you’re not using Carmen’s other features.
- In cases where instructors are not using Carmen for other purposes, librarians can activate Carmen courses.
- If needed, the Copyright Help Center provides copyright consultation services and investigates permissions for course use.
For more information or to request service, please visit University Libraries, email libeReserves@osu.edu, or call 614-292-6448.
Carmen's Librarian Role
Instructors can enroll a librarian in a Carmen course using the Librarian role. This role allows librarians to work closely with instructors in developing courses and offering research resources. The role includes access to all course content and files, as well as the ability to create and edit quizzes, surveys, and dropboxes and to participate in discussions.
- To find out how the Librarian role might benefit to your courses, talk to your subject area librarian.
- Course instructors are able to add a librarian to their own courses. See Enroll Participants for instructions.
Library Resource Link
The Library link became available in all Carmen courses beginning Autumn 2009. This link leads to a page of resources created by a librarian with subject area expertise which are relevant to the department or college. Instructors who want content especially for their course can work directly with the subject area librarian.
- Contact your subject area librarian to discuss how to have the Library link in your course customized to meet your needs.
